The Northeastern Women’s Club Soccer team competes in the South Boston/Rhode Island division of the NIRSA Region I Club Soccer League during the regular season (September-November). Our primary competition is comprised of local teams, though our schedule often includes matches against teams from neighboring states in the New England area. Each season we aspire not only for status as the premier team in our division, but also as one of the more elite programs across the entire region. Our ultimate goal is to win the Region I Tournament that marks the culmination of each season, and subsequently secure the privilege of competing in the Championship Division of the annual National Soccer Championships. In October 2017, we achieved a regional title for the first time in NUWCS history. And though we have fallen short in the National Soccer Championships, every year we have a memorable run and exceptional season. As always, the only direction to go is forward, and we look to 2019 with ambition and enthusiasm.
Carter Playground is our home field and it’s located on Northeastern’s main campus on Columbus Avenue in Boston, MA. The closest T stop is Ruggles Station, which is a stop along the Orange line and commuter rail.
We typically practice three times a week; practices will be at Carter field or at other fields near campus. Most games will be on the weekends but depending on field availability, we may play during the week.
Tryouts for the Fall 2019 season will be held on Saturday, September 7th from 2:00-5:00 PM and on Sunday, September 8th from 2:00 – 5:30 PM at Carter Field on Northeastern’s main campus. Please email nuwomensclubsoccer@gmail.com if you are interested in trying out.
At the beginning of every season, each team member is expected to pay dues. Dues include uniforms, travel costs, hotel costs, referee payments, field fees, and tournament fees. The cost of apparel (sweatshirts, sweatpants, dry fit shirts, etc) is not included.
We try to volunteer at two or three events (road races, bike races, etc) throughout the fall season to raise money for the team. Participation in these events is expected from all players.
