Club Inline Hockey Triumphs Despite Battling Injuries
Shoutout to Club Inline Hockey! They had a team record of 10-4
FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
The Northeastern Inline Hockey team competes in Division 2 and Division AA in the Eastern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association which is a conference of the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association. As a team that is consistently ranked in the top 10 of the nation, and competitive for national championships, we are looking for players who are both competitive and passionate for hockey. We frequently travel to Philadelphia, Long Island, and New Jersey to play schools all over the northeast.
The biggest difference is that roller hockey is played 4 on 4 rather than 5 on 5. With only 4 skaters on the rink at a time, teams consist of two forwards, two defensemen, and a goalie. The puck we use is lighter than a typical ice hockey puck and is made entirely of plastic so it slides on the tiles we play on. There is no offsides or icing in our league which changes the dynamic for players without the puck. And lastly, there is no checking in our league so players have some more freedom to use puck and stick skills to beat defenders.
The team does not cut players and anyone is welcome to join regardless of skill level. There are two types of members of the club: Tournament players and practice players. Tournament players play on the D2 and AA teams at tournaments throughout the school year and compete for regional and national titles in the spring. Practice players come to practices throughout the year to skate but may not be able to commit to playing in tournaments.
