Pilot Projects Core

The Pilot Projects Core, lead by Prof. Carmen Sceppa, supports the coherent development and implementation of pilot research projects by facilitating interdisciplinary research and scholarly activities.  The Core trains nurses and other healthcare professionals, sharing state-of-the-art technology approaches and platforms to support self-management in older adults that expand healthcare delivery beyond traditional methodologies. At the same time, this Core brings together a multidisciplinary team of scientists with a strong history of working across disciplines on research projects that facilitate health behavior change in the community and home settings.

Aims

  • To solicit and fund a minimum of two pilot projects per year that support a junior nurse scientist in investigating novel and compelling approaches to improving care for older adults through self management interventions.
  • To foster the development and conduct of technology driven self-management pilot projects, with mentoring and active engagement of interdisciplinary team members and Center Core management.
  • To mentor nurse scientists in applying for larger grants upon completion of their pilot projects.
