ABSTRACT:

40 Trinity is a large scale mixed use tower planned for Boston’s Back Bay.  The discussion will highlight the project’s seven-year evolution highlighting the initial conceptual designs and the complex permitting process in Boston, including:

  • a focus on the Cities Article 37 Green Building Code;
  • the challenges of building in a dense, active and engaged community;
  • the economic realities of large scale urban construction; and
  • the technical means needed to accomplish the design vision.

The presentation will also discuss the building’s unique design features and provide students with a whirlwind tour of what is required to bring a project from a client’s initial phone call to a shovel in the ground.
