Meet Our Chaplains and Staff

Joyce DeGreeff has served as Lutheran campus minister and Lutheran spiritual advisor to Northeastern University since the fall of 1997. A 1999 graduate of Harvard Divinity School, Joyce has a particular interest in helping students link faith and spirituality with community service and social justice.

Joyce also serves as the youth director and adult enrichment coordinator at West Concord Union Church in Concord, Massachusetts. Her previous work includes five years of teaching and coaching in Connecticut and Maine and a chaplain internship at Tufts University. In her spare time, Joyce enjoys listening to jazz and gospel music, biking, walking in nature, cross-country skiing, and spending time with her husband and children.

The Rev. Kevin Vetiac is Northeastern's Episcopal spiritual advisor as well as the Episcopal chaplain at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. They have also served as director of the LGBTQA Resource Center at Northeastern. Their background in equity work and serving multiple marginalized populations, as well as their commitment to anti-racism and social justice, are assets to the LGBTQA Resource Center, Cultural and Spiritual Life, and the Northeastern community at large. Previous roles in various higher education settings, in addition to years of worship leadership at The Crossing and administrative experience at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul have prepared them well for LECM-Open Table at Northeastern.

Jay Ballard is LECM’s intern for 2023-24. They are a third-year Master of Divinity student at Boston University School of Theology on the chaplaincy track, and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Jay is originally from Mississippi, but is now happy to call Boston home. They are a member of the Red Sox Grounds Crew, and in their free time, they enjoy reading, spending time outdoors, and watching hockey.
