MIE Ph.D. Candidate Criss Zhang co-hosted the 2020 AtC-AtG International Magnetics Conference

MIE Ph.D. Candidate Criss (Xiaoyu) Zhang served on the Program Committee and helped run the 2020 Around-the-Clock Around-the-Globe (AtC-AtG) Magnetics Conference, a brand-new virtual international conference powered by the IEEE Magnetics Society. The AtC-AtG Conference, held on Aug.27th, was a great success. It attracted almost 2000 Zoom participants from 42 different countries and over 1500 views on the YouTube Livestream on that day.

The AtC-AtG Conference adopted a novel 24-hour non-stop format, allowing scholars worldwide to present research during their local daytime by progressing through global time zones. This event featured 9 invited talks or tutorials from senior scientists in the international magnetics community, and 70 contributed oral presentations from graduate students and postdocs worldwide (27 countries, 5 continents).

This Conference was organized by a group of 18 young magnetics professionals worldwide (senior graduate students and postdocs), aiming to unite the global magnetics community during this challenging time of the COVID-19 global pandemic. As a junior member in the committee, Criss made remarkable contributions in promoting, designing, and managing the Conference, and is truly proud of and grateful for this opportunity.
