Mildred Dresselhaus (1930-2017)

Mildred Dresselhaus, a professor at M.I.T. and writer of over 1,700 publications, died on February 20th, 2017. She was an inspiration to women of science and engineering everywhere and was known as the "Queen of Carbon" for her innovative techniques for studying individual layers of carbon atoms. She was known and respected by both Dr. Lewis and Dr. Heiman.

Dr. Heiman had the privilege to collaborate with Millie on a number of papers, using inelastic light (Raman) scattering at high magnetic fields in Heiman’s lab at MIT’s Francis Bitter National Magnet Lab.
