Game Plan aims to pull back the curtain on sports journalism and explore new ways to connect fans to stories, communicate the numbers and spotlight the trends at the intersection of sports and society. Founded in 2019 out of Northeastern University’s School of Journalism, it dives into the methods, tools and motivations behind today’s most innovative sports coverage.
From interviews with industry leaders to prototyping new forms of data analysis, reporting out quick facts to longform features, Game Plan hopes to push the sports conversation beyond the box score and equip Northeastern students as well as our wider readership with the technology and ideas for improving sports media. Game Plan also connects students to a network of industry leaders in broadcast, legacy and new media, as well as academics, designers and developers, giving writers a platform from which to explore the future of sports journalism.
