The majority of East Boston residents work in Boston, with a large percentage working in Downtown Boston. The second key finding, though perhaps obvious, is that many residents of East Boston work at Logan Airport.

Other areas with a high representation of East Boston residents are Cambridge, Newton, Chelsea, Waltham, and Somerville. Over half of all East Boston residents take the subway to work, the highest percentage of any Boston neighborhood.

Many jobs within East Boston are held by residents from outside of the city. Individuals from Revere, Lynn, Chelsea, Winthrop, and Everett contribute to the work force of East Boston. About 44% of these jobs are in transportation and warehousing, while 28% are in public administration.
