**p. 17 **In the calculation for *S* near the bottom of the page, the numerator should be 0.16 m^{3}

Part a. The dimensions x and y for rectangle A573 should be switched so that x = 5 and y = 10. The influence factor becomes 0.200 and the calculated total Ds_{z}becomes 0.9 kPa, close to the computer solution by Christian and Urzua (1996) of approximately 1 kPa.

Part b. The problem statement should say an additional 0.1 MPa. Then rectangle 96210 is then loaded with 200 kPa and total

s_{z} = 0.3 kPa from part a plus 23.8 – 21.0 – 23.2 + 20.6 = 0.5 kPa.

**p. 478, Figure 10.13 (c)** Ds should go from the initial effective overburden pressure line all the way to furthest right line, not just to the preconsolidation pressure line.

**p. 482** last line, Table Ex. 10.**8**b instead of Table Ex. 10.11b

**p. 484** plot the consolidation settlement data in Table Ex. 10.8**b**
