The Northeastern Men’s Squash Team claimed the Serues Cup National Title at the CSA National Team Championships over the weekend of February 19-21, 2016.  Held at Yale University in New Haven, CT, the Huskies began the weekend seeded 3rd in their division.

  • NEU vs. Bard College Introductions

First facing Bard College on the evening of the 19th, the Huskies came out strong despite not sharing common opponents with them throughout the season.  Although uncertain through the first few matches at the bottom of the ladder, the Huskies prevailed with their top 7 players posting wins.  The final score was 7-2, and the results can be found here.

The Huskies then took on the University of Miami (Florida) in the second round of the tournament.  Despite a loss at the number 9 position, Northeastern showed a swift victory, defeating Miami 8-1.  Number 1 position and Co-Captain Daniel Blohm had a strong performance after working though a tie-breaker to prevail in his 5-game match.  Number 8 position and senior Max Hoffman also showed his determination after daftly defeating his opponent 11-4 in the 5th game.  See the complete results here.

The Northeastern Men then faced their backyard rivals Boston University in the finals of the National Championship.  Although starting off shaky with two losses, Northeastern quickly posted strong 3-0 wins from positions 2, 3, 5, and 7, players Evan Jacobson, Abel Hailu, Viraj Shah, and Connor Rouan, respectively.  Co-captain and number 1 position Daniel Blohm secured his second win of the season against BU’s Sallam Marwan, pushing the Huskies to their 5th win and securing the Championship Title.  Senior and number 4 position Greg Berson finalized the Huskies’ win, defeating his opponent in the 5th and final game of the tournament.  See the detailed results here.
