Observations of an interaction between sperm whales and short-finned pilot whales in the Gulf of Mexico

On 24 August 1994 an unusual interaction between short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) and sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) was observed during a study of acoustic and surface behavior of sperm whales in the north central Gulf of Mexico (28°43.20’N, 88°44.13’W).
