Course: HUSV 3570 The Nonprofit Sector, Philanthropy, & Social Change
This artifact is a systems map that a group of students made on the various factors that affect school-age youth in Boston. This group spent time focusing on the organization MBK617 in the experiential grantmaking process of the course and analyzing what are the systems at play that affect the population that MBK617 focuses on. In forming the map, the students took time to look at the positive and negative correlations that factors had with one another. For instance, in the map, it is seen that if a family income increases, there is an increase in access to mental health services. In looking at the systems at play that influences the access to resources that urban communities have, it helps to gain an understanding of what systemic barriers individuals face to being empowered and reaching their potential.
