Our project will primarily focus on the discovery of the neighborhood’s trees and how they affect noise complaints in the neighborhood. We will discover the current distribution of trees and green spaces around the neighborhood, and discover how noise complaints correlate to the location of the trees. The primary consumer of our project will be the neighborhood associations. They can use our correlations between trees and their impacts on the area to determine the best places for green space development to reduce noise complaints. Our partner, the Chester Square Neighborhood Association, is interested in better understanding the ecology of the area and its impact to its residents. The association wants to learn more about the placement of trees in the area, in parks and along the sidewalks. Additionally, they want to learn how effectively trees are dampening noise from the street.
