Abstract: Together, our group worked to research the relationship between Black women and the desire (or lack thereof) to have Eurocentric features. We were all interested in this topic, but Lauren’s first hand experience during service learning where a young Black girl wished her hair was different is what drove our research. We focus on how the media and family values play a role in perpetuating and breaking away from Eurocentric standards.
