On Saturday, April 18th, Northeastern students participated in 2 community events – the Cambridge Science Festival’s Carnival, and the STEMARTS Youth Summit.

Thousands of students and families descended upon the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School from the Greater Boston area and engaged in hands-on activities and demonstrations with NU students at the Cambridge Science Festival.  Northeastern’s chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics shared information about their rockets and model aircraft projects, in addition to their latest robot which they created for a NASA competition.  Students with the Center for STEM Education shared activities for solar energy, working with students to measure solar output and explore uses for solar energy.

At the Statewide Black Clergy for Unity’s Annual Youth Summit in the Melnea Cass Rec Center, Northeastern students from the Civic Engagement Program shared demonstrations on chemical reactions which they had developed over the course of the year.  Over 100 students from Boston in 5th-10th grades attended the event, which included presentations from the Muesuem of Science, Boston Police Department, and other community partners.
