Assistant Director of Bands & Artist in Residence: Allison Betsold

Allison Betsold joins the Northeastern University Music Department as Artist in Residence, Assistant Director of Bands. As the director of the NU Pep Band and NU Concert Band, Allison works with over 250 students across multiple disciplines and majors. The NUPB can be heard playing at all home volleyball, women’s and men’s ice hockey, and women’s and men’s basketball games. A Massachusetts native, Allison holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a Master of Music from the University of Kansas, and was studying for her Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Illinois before making her return to NU. Allison specializes in wind band conducting and literature, and creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all who wish to experience music together.

President: Gracie Rosenbaum

Gracie is a fourth-year Biology major, Criminal Justice minor, from Westchester, New York. She plays flute in the Pep Band, as well as guitar, ukulele, and bass outside the NU Bands. As President, she serves as the Pep Band’s executive officer and oversees its day to day operations, as well as working alongside the director and the other officers. Vice President: Jackie Turner

Jackie (she/her/hers) is a fifth-year Psychology and Criminal Justice major with a minor in Business. Originally from Milwaukee, WI, she is an outgoing and ambitious trumpet player. She also enjoys hiking, reading, and getting lost in the city because she has no sense of direction. As Vice President, she takes on the wonderful tasks of managing band membership, maintaining attendance records, working with section leaders, and sending a whole lot of emails! Treasurer: Jeremy Amoroso

Jeremy is a fourth-year senior studying Industrial Engineering with a minor in Math. He has played trumpet in the pep band for all 4 years at Northeastern. He is originally from Rome, NY (between Utica and Syracuse) and is serving his 2nd non consecutive term as NUPB Treasurer (a real Grover Cleveland). As Treasurer, he collects dues, manages the band’s budgets, processes reimbursements, and most importantly hands out the hats.

Managers: Jason Kobrin & Ben Henderson

Jason is a second-year Mechanical Engineering major from Wayne, New Jersey. He plays trumpet in the pep band and loves watching sports, especially the awesome teams at Northeastern! As co-manager, he is in charge of maintaining and distributing instruments, uniforms, and equipment owned by the band. Outside of band, you can find him working out in Marino or catching a Red Sox game at Fenway Park.

Ben Henderson is a fourth-year Computer Science major, with minors in Music Composition and Music Recording. He has played low brass and piano with a few of the Northeastern ensembles, with the Baritone horn as his instrument of choice for Pep Band. As co-manager, he is in charge of maintaining all the school-owned instruments, equipment, and uniforms, as well as coordinating their distribution for games during the year. When he isn't being asked about his passionate love of humor and jazz-fusion, he can be found longboarding, gaming, or jamming with the homies.

Librarians: Aleksandra Burger-Roy & Jiya Lakhani

Aleksandra is a sixth-year chemical engineering student at Northeastern. Hailing from the tundras of central Maine, ze joins the pep band on mellophone (and occasionally on baritone, trombone, or trumpet). As Librarian, Aleksandra oversees the construction and upkeep of our sheet music books, ensuring they are in prime condition for games and rehearsals. Ze devotes hir spare time to LGBT activism, astrology, the HONK! movement, RuneScape, and arranging and composing band music.

Jiya is a second-year computer science major with a math minor at Northeastern. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, she plays mellophone in the pep band and hopes to join other wind ensembles in the future playing French horn. As Librarian, Jiya oversees the storage, maintenance, repair, and modifications of music books, as well as maintaining the physical and digital storage of the Band’s music library. She enjoys sucking at video games, taking up random arts and crafts projects, and exploring Boston.

Events Coordinator: Rachel Graham

Rachel is a fourth-year civil engineering major from Scotch Plains-Fanwood, New Jersey. She plays trombone in the pep band and is also a member of the NU concert band. She also enjoys biking, cooking, and cross stitching! As events coordinator, she plans fun outings for the pep band to encourage a sense of community for all members. Student Director: Connor Barnes

Connor is a fourth-year studying at Northeastern for a degree in Mathematics and a minor in French. Originally from Warrington, PA, Connor primarily plays the horn with NUBands, but can also be seen around campus doubling various woodwinds with other student music groups. As Student Director, Connor works alongside the director to conduct the band at hockey, basketball, and volleyball games. In his free time, he likes to bake for his friends and busk with the brothers of KKPsi.

Webmaster: JoJo Brennan

JoJo is a fifth-year Political Science and Communication Studies major, with a concentration in Public Policy, and a minor in International Affairs. Originally from Falmouth, Massachusetts, she plays flute in the Pep Band and Concert Band.  An avid Taylor Swift fan, JoJo also enjoys sharing random facts about the singer without prompting, as well as more normal things like going to the beach, crafting and watching TikToks.  As Webmaster, she maintains this very website and updates the Pep Band social media, including the Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
