Institutions, healthcare systems, cities, and even developers are striving to build a carbon neutral future. Net Zero Energy buildings will play a key role in achieving this goal. Many people are familiar with small Net Zero buildings, but we need to decarbonize the built environment at a massive scale. Join us as we outline the process to achieve NZE and demonstrate examples of this NZE scale-shift, including detailed examples from 4,000 to 4,000,000 square feet.

Jacob Knowles leads BR+A’s sustainability initiatives firm-wide.  His team has championed millions of square feet of Zero Net Energy buildings and Carbon Neutral campuses, leading to numerous grants and awards, including AIA COTE Top Ten.  He is a champion of net zero standards and often consults to city and state agencies on carbon neutral zoning and net zero codes.  He is also currently a board member of the Boston Society for Architecture.
