ABSTRACT:

This presentation will focus on the Permitting Process of Mid and High-Rise Buildings in the State of Massachusetts and the sustainability strategies involved to achieve High Performing Buildings. We will discuss some exciting WSP projects and take a closer look at the Zero Carbon Building Approach which includes energy efficiency, electrification and on-site renewables.

BIO:

Ms. Shruti Rose James is an Associate Consultant and Technical Specialist in Energy Efficiency, LEED and Passive House with WSP’s Built Ecology group. She works closely with architects and developers to deliver high performance buildings that meet government and corporate mandates for climate action and resiliency. She incorporates energy modeling for all-electric buildings, passive design strategies, and alternative renewable energy technologies into multiple unique projects. She is also a LEED accredited Professional and a Certified Passive House Consultant. She leads the effort in performing early phase feasibility of passive house design along with economic analysis.

Shruti holds a Master of Science (M.S) degree in Energy Systems and a Certificate Degree in Energy Systems Management from Northeastern University. She used to be an active member of the NU Energy Systems Society.

Sustainability has always been a hot topic of interest and working on it at the forefront and breaking all the individual silos, viewing the building in a holistic way and creating a sustainable built environment for the future is what excites her the most.
