ABSTRACT:
This presentation will provide an overview of the issues surrounding operational and embodied energy in buildings. We’ll review the environmental impacts of building energy use and demonstrate how architects and engineers can work together to reduce and even negate those impacts.
BIO:
Mike Cavanaugh, CannonDesign’s sustainability leader, is responsible for ensuring our firm continues to integrate sustainability into all facets of our business. Mike has demonstrated expertise as an architect and technical leader on a variety of technically complex healthcare, higher education, and laboratory projects infusing sustainability strategies – big and small – throughout the design process. Mike works with CannonDesign leaders and clients to align goals and further integrate sustainability into our design efforts. He also champions our firm’s commitment to the AIA 2030 challenge and other key industry metrics.
