The challenge for multiple cities is not only to provide a night shelter for their rising homeless population but also where to house them during the day. As a result, a new typology is rising for spaces called Day Centers. Join us on Tuesday the 28th of March 2023, 6-7 pm to learn about the work of Father Bill’s & MainSpring on providing new shelter spaces for their residence during the day when shelters are emptied for cleaning and maintenance as they prepare for the residence to come back in the afternoon. We will feature the Brockton Housing Resource Center project as an example of this typology. The project will replace Father Bill’s existing shelter in downtown Brockton with a new day center, emergency shelter, and 32 units of housing in two buildings at 124 Manley Street in Brockton (next to the Brockton VA campus). The Brockton HRC project is expected to start this spring.
