Pedro M. Cruz, a NULab core faculty member, recently won two awards at the Kantar Information is Beautiful Awards, which celebrate excellence and beauty in data visualizations, infographics, interactives, and information art. Professor Cruz and a team of Northeastern faculty (NULab core faculty member John Wihbey, Avni Ghael, and Felipe Shibuya) were recognized for Simulated Dendrochronology of U.S. Immigration, 1790-2016, which depicts waves of immigration to the United States as growing tree rings. The visualization won gold in the People, Language & Identity category and the main prize for most beautiful visualization. Read more about the project here.
