NULab core faculty member John Wihbey and Mike Beaudet, both of Northeastern’s Journalism department, have recently published an op-ed in the New York Times. In their article, “Why It’s So Hard to See Politicians’ Financial Data,” Wihbey and Beaudet report that they have examined data across all fifty states and have found “a litany of inadequacies.” The authors discuss their findings on the quality, availability, and use of data and conclude: “we should demand that all officeholders with significant power — presidential candidates, senators, congressmen, governors and state lawmakers — disclose their tax returns.” Read the full article here.
