“Building a Website with Jekyll & GitHub Pages”

November 8, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Recently “flat HTML” website platforms have been getting lots of buzz: they load quickly, don’t have the overhead of database-driven platforms like WordPress, and are more aligned with the ideals of “minimal computing.” Once a flat HTML system is set up it’s remarkably easy to use, but that initial setup can be more complicated than an out-of-the-box solution like WordPress. This two- hour workshop will help you get started building a free, fast-loading professional website using a combination of GitHub Pages and Jekyll, one of the most popular flat HTML platforms. This workshop is led by Professor Ryan Cordell.

This workshop will follow the “Introduction to GitHub” offered by NULab Coordinator Cara Marta Messina on November 7, 10 am -12 pm in 422 Snell Library. Participants are welcome to attend either or both events.

Please bring a laptop, if you are able!

This event is free and open to the public, but if you are not a member of the Northeastern community, please email sa.connell[at]northeastern[dot]edu to RSVP.
