NULab/DSG Fall Welcome

October 30, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join the Digital Scholarship Group (Northeastern University Library) and the NULab for Texts, Maps and Networks (College of Social Sciences and Humanities) for our annual kickoff event! It will be in Room 90 in Snell Library on October 30, 3–5pm.

The Scholarship Celebration will feature a keynote speech by Dr. Laura Nelson, associate professor of sociology at Northeastern University. Dr. Nelson’s talk, entitled Machine Learning is Feminist, will argue that “machine learning can not only be used in feminist ways, it is, down to its most basic assumptions, a feminist framework.”

The keynote will be preceded by a series of lightning talks presenting research from the Northeastern community doing digital projects in English, history, computer science, network science, journalism, and more.

Attendees will learn about projects and methods in digital scholarship such as text analysis, GIS and mapping, encoding, data visualization and more. This will be a great opportunity to meet others interested in or practicing digital scholarship from the Northeastern and Boston DH community.

For more information and to RSVP, please see here.
