“Douglass Day” Transcribe-a-thon

February 14 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Please join us next week on Valentine’s Day for a read- and transcribe-a-thon in celebration of Frederick Douglass! In partnership with the Digital Scholarship Group and the Women Writers Project, the NULab will be hosting a local event in Snell Library, as part of a much larger celebration co-produced by the Colored Conventions Project at the University of Delaware and the African American Museum in Philadelphia.

Although Douglass was born into bondage, and never knew his birthdate, he chose to celebrate every year on February 14. We will commemorate his birthday by creating Black history together, transcribing and reading while streaming online with the national event. Pizza and treats will be served!

Participants should bring their own laptops, if possible, but no previous experience is required. This event is free and open to the public but registration is requested. RSVP here.

We hope to see you all there!
