ABSTRACT

Dimagi is a local company that delivers open and innovative technology to help underserved communities everywhere.

CommCare is Dimagi’s easily customizable, open source, evidence-based mobile platform that supports frontline workers in low-resource communities. Frontline workers use CommCare to track and support their clients with registration forms, checklists, SMS reminders, and multimedia. Andrea Fletcher, Project Manager at Dimagi, will be speaking about her working implementing CommCare around the world. CommCare is the most widely adopted and technologically advanced mobile platform for frontline workers. It is the only platform for frontline workers that is open source, supports longitudinal client tracking, specialized for low-literate users, integrates SMS for performance improvement, and has an application builder designed for non-programmers. The CommCare platform runs on both Java and Android phones and can operate offline. A collection of over 35 research publications demonstrating that, when used correctly, CommCare improves clients’ access to, quality, experience, and accountability of services, as well as clients’ knowledge, attitudes and behaviors.
