The Nor’easters are Northeastern University’s premier co-ed a cappella group. As the oldest group on campus, the Nor’easters have continuously striven to maintain the highest standards of musicality while still keeping the fun and love alive.

They had the honor of being named champions of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella in 2013 and ICCA Wildcard Champions in 2015, and have performed for the President and First Lady of the United States at the White House Christmas Gala. The Nor’easters were also the feature group on PopTV’s docu-series, “Sing It On” in the show’s first season, have performed with John Legend on The View and have traveled to New York, Los Angeles and Australia to perform and promote the show.

In the past few years, The Nor’easters have become recording powerhouses, having been awarded Best Mixed Collegiate Album for both 2013 (III) and 2014 (Equilibrium) at the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards. Recently, The Nor’easters released their newest album entitled RISE. Check it out on iTunes, Spotify, and Loudr!

You can find them rehearsing Mondays, Thursdays, and every other Sunday within the halls of Ryder. They share with each other not only the love of singing and performance, but also the desire for true friendships and “bonding” (infer from that what you wish).

Currently there are 7 female and 9 male voices making up the Nor’easters sound, and of course, a wonderful vocal percussionist rounding out the bunch. A very diverse group of students, the Nor’easters also perform a huge variety of music. Take a look at our Repertoire to see for yourself! From busking on Newbury Street, to caroling on Centennial Quad, to birthdays on the beach and to the famed ICCAs, the Nor’easters aim to please at any venue (rrrrroadtrip!).
