Northeastern’s New Learning Environment
Northeastern’s learning environment leverages open technologies and integrations to include innovative, global and experiential learning platforms. A robust data backbone supports customized, lifelong, and experiential learning, which is the cornerstone of Northeastern’s innovative approach to higher education. Flexible and futureproof, this Northeastern online environment will only evolve with input and partnership of the Northeastern community in support of university goals for teaching and learning tools as we evolve with Northeastern 2025.
Preparing for the Semester
To help prepare for the semester, we’ve included activities we recommend completing. If you have any difficulties completing the items below, please email email@example.com.
Check Your Course List. As part of the upgrade and merge, only courses created later than September 1, 2014 will be brought over into the new environment. Courses previously taught at nuonline.neu.edu prior to Winter/Spring 2018 may not yet appear in this new Blackboard. The process to transfer all older content is ongoing for the next couple of weeks. To request the restoration of courses taught prior to September 1, 2014, complete this Course Restore Request form. Faculty who would like sections merged into one parent course may fill out the new course merge form.
Update Blackboard URL Bookmark. After December 31, 2017, everyone at Northeastern will access Blackboard using the new URL – https://northeastern.blackboard.com. You will want to update any bookmarks and course documentation with the new URL.
Update Blackboard Apps Login. For all Blackboard Apps (Blackboard, Blackboard Grader, and Blackboard Instructor) you will need to log out of your account, find Northeastern University on the school list and then log back in.
Request to Add Teaching Assistants and Other Users. Faculty who would like to add another instructor, librarian, or guest to a Banner-enrolled course may fill out this form. Requests to add teaching assistants should go to your departmental representative to be added via Banner. Student auditors must be added through the registrar.
Register for a Preview or Hands-on Workshop. Academic Technology Services will be hosting Blackboard Upgrade open lab drop-in sessions throughout the month of December and hands-on sessions in January. View and register for sessions here.
Special Instructions for NUOnline Courses. For migration information specifically related to NUOnline and PAN courses, please review this page.
