Climate Justice In The City of Boston Video

The Northeastern Environmental Justice Research Collaborative (NEJRC) is proud to announce the release of a new video CLIMATE JUSTICE IN THE CITY OF BOSTON by NEJRC Research Associate and filmmaker John Syzonenko. This video provides a brief overview of what future climate projections warn for Boston and its neighborhoods, and what social and economic vulnerabilities already exist in the city. The video also highlights how these inequities could be exacerbated if climate planning is not done in a thoughtful, long-term and inclusive manner. The video is inspired by a recent presentation done by NEJRC Research Associate Christina Schlegel in the Office of Boston City Council President Michelle Wu. Both the video and the presentation highlight the need for the City to integrate economic and social equity concerns as plans for climate resiliency begin to unfold, and to involve vulnerable residents and community-based organizations in the planning process so that a more prosperous
