Prof. John B. Goodenough wins the 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry

Prof. John B. Goodenough, professor at The University of Texas at Austin, has been awarded the 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry jointly with M. Stanley Whittingham of the State University of New York at Binghamton and Akira Yoshino of Meijo University, "for the development of lithium-ion batteries."

Prof. Goodenough developed the cathode materials for high energy-density batteries that power billions of portable electronic devices that connect people all over the world together, as well as millions of electric and hybrid vehicles that revolutionized transport towards a zero-emission future.
