Do your children like to participate in fun activities during the summer, but you know that they could also benefit from receiving extra support in math for the upcoming year? Would you be interested in your child receiving this support from experienced school teachers and college students, but you know that your child also doesn’t want to spend their entire summer in the classroom?
Well, if that’s the case, then the 2016 Algebra Plus Summer Academy is perfect for you!
Located on the main campus of Northeastern University in Boston, MA, the Algebra Plus Summer Academy provides students with core mathematics instruction taught by a quality teaching team in the morning, and fun elective activities to take part in during the afternoon. We build upon prior math concepts learned in school during this current year in order to guide students toward understanding the newer math concepts that they will encounter during the upcoming year. Our extracurricular activities, lead by college-aged Teaching Assistants, include popular areas of study today, such engineering, coding, cooking, and art; and all students will have the chance to research, design, and implement their own service-learning project which can be used to help better their local community. The Academy also places a heavy significance on educating all of our students on the college selection process, and so weekly trips to various colleges in the Boston area will take place as well.
If you are interested in registering your child for this year’s Algebra Plus Summer Academy, please read the following and then apply below:
The tuition cost for the Algebra Plus Summer Academy is $705, but significant financial aid is often given to eligible families who apply. Please be sure to fill out the Financial Aid section towards the end of the Registration Form, if you would like to be considered for financial assistance. You will be contacted immediately about your award once your application has been reviewed and the exact amount has been determined. Please note that you will be asked to mail-in documentation of your income to our office for verification before we can give you an exact award (i.e. a recent pay stub or your 2015 tax return or a letter from the Department of Social Services).
Regardless of your financial aid status, we do ask that a deposit of $100 per student (credited towards the tuition cost) be paid to us by Sunday, May 1st, 2016, in order to secure your child’s spot in our Academy and to cover some Academy costs in advance. We do continue to accept applications on a rolling basis after this date until we are full, but the deposit is non-refundable for all students, so the sooner you apply, the better! Please see the last section of the Registration Form for the address of where to mail in or drop off your deposit to us.
Once accepted into the Algebra Plus Summer Academy, please note that all students and their caregivers will be required to attend our mandatory Parent and Student Orientation on the evening of Tuesday, June 28th, 2015. There you will meet your child’s teaching team for the duration of the Academy, as well as hear from our Executive Director on some important procedures in order to make the Academy go smoothly and successfully for everyone!
