Abstract: I will review constructions of quantum statistical mechanical systems (from the original Bost-Connes system to generalizations to arbitrary number fields) that exhibit interesting arithmetic properties. Following ongoing work with Gunther Cornelissen, I will show how these quantum statistical mechanical systems can be used to reconstruct a number field from a family of L-series.
