Abstract:   Recently there has been a lot of interest in the problem of realizing contact manifolds as the boundaries of symplectic manifolds. A very similar problem of this sort was considered long ago by algebraic geometers: When is a pseudoconcave manifold an open set in a projective variety or more generally a compact complex manifold. After a leisurely discussion of convexity in complex geometry we discuss criteria for fillability for pseudoconcave manifolds.
