Husky Starters Crowdfunding campaign:
The dedicated members of Northeastern University’s Innovator’s for global health club have formed a partnership with St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Our collaboration is built on IGH’s goal of providing students with the life-changing educational experience of repairing vital medical equipment in the world’s most resource-poor communities. To initiate this project, we are traveling to Addis Ababa for two weeks to collaborate with local physicians and biomedical technicians to survey the needs of St. Paul’s Hospital, repair medical equipment, and exchange knowledge.
We’re asking you to help us raise $13,000 for our trip to Ethiopia. This money will cover hotels, transportation, flights, tools, and supplies.
This project will provide students with the unique opportunity to learn about a new culture, apply engineering skills in a global health context, increase Northeastern’s international presence, and improve access to healthcare in Addis Ababa. By repairing medical equipment alongside Ethiopian health professionals and technicians, students will gain interpersonal skills and expand their intellectual and cultural diversity.
