Joined the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity (formerly the J.L.B. Smith Institute of Ichthyology), Grahamstown, South Africa in 2003. Just submitted an MSc thesis in Marine Biology at Rhodes University.

Main research interests:

Ecology and systematics of sub-Antarctic decapods.

Current research:

Demographic parameters and general biology of the caridean shrimp Nauticaris marionis at the Prince Edward Islands.

Icefish cruise goals:

To further my research in ecology and systematics of the caridean decapod shrimps in the sub-Antarctic region, with special emphasis on the genus Nauticaris; to learn about and become involved in research on the ecology of other Antarctic and sub-Antarctic invertebrates, particularly of the Decapoda; and to learn about sub-Antarctic fishes.
