Kristen KuhnMy name is Kristen Kuhn. I recently completed my masters with Dr. Irv Kornfield at the University of Maine in Marine Biology. I focused on population genetics of the alewife (Alosa pseudoharengus), using both microsatellite and mitochondrial DNA markers. I am currently a new doctoral student in Marine Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Delaware with Dr. Patrick Gaffney. My research will focus on population genetics of the Patagonian toothfish (Dissostichus eleginoides) and other subantarctic fishes using mitochondrial DNA. My primary goal of the ICEFISH cruise is to collect tissue samples from a number of fish species at a number of locations for genetic comparison. I plan to begin DNA extractions while on board in preparation for amplification and sequencing upon my return to Delaware.
