John is a PhD student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He currently researches overnight maintenance planning and execution for rapid transit systems, with the goal of designing strategies and tools for increasing available time and resource utilization for maintenance activities. This research is conducted in partnership with and sponsored by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Prior to arriving at Northeastern, he graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with an M.S. in Transportation and from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. His past research has involved the creation of a transit service planning method for the MBTA Green Line after its new extension north of Boston and the simulation of integrated bus rapid transit and freight/logistics corridors in Columbus, OH.

In his free time, John enjoys exploring places by rail, practicing amateur cartography, and writing songs on the guitar and piano.
