Game design, interactive arts, interactive media is a new emerging inter- and multi-disciplinary field that combines technology, art, design, engineering, science, and business.  This new emerging discipline is what the members of PLAIT Lab at Northeastern University research, teach, and practice.

We have top faculty from across the globe in this area – faculty who don’t only have expertise in one or more of these areas but can cross between the different disciplines. Our faculty are also practitioners and collaborate intensively with industry. At PLAIT Lab we find it important to integrate theory and practice.

Our research vision is to look into the new emerging discipline broadly and multidisciplinary. We have a strong focus on games, but are concerned with any playable technology. Our vision extends to innovating the field by creating new technologies, designs, and methodologies.

In our education we integrate the disciplines and allow students at the undergraduate and graduate levels to mix and experience the world of arts, computer science, design, and engineering to harness the skills needed to build their careers within this area. We let students gain the necessary experience with co-ops, capstone projects, and our industry involvement – nationally and internationally.
