Ambar Johnson came in to talk about on walkability and bikeability with students and faculty of the graduate program in Experience Design. Ambar, the Program Director for LivableStreets, discussed and illustrated how some potential solutions for making public spaces accessible to people with disabilities can help everyone.
The Curb Cut Effect: Making public spaces accessible to people with disabilities helps everyone. The curb cut: a wedge cut in an elevated curb to allow smooth passage between the sidewalk and the street. They were originally designed to make public streets accessible to wheelchair users but facilitate mobility for many different situations.
