Meet the E-Board

Matthew Lehoisky

  • Co-President
  • Major: Industrial Engineering
  • Minors: Economics and Data Science

Matt is a Third-Year Industrial Engineering student from New York. In Matt’s second semester as President, Matt strives to provide programming and opportunities for all individuals interested in Economics while guiding the future of the Economics Society. He recently completed his first co-op with John Hancock as an Analyst for Manulife Bermuda’s International HNW Life. Academically, he is most interested in studying human behavior with mathematical analysis and economic theory. Besides Econ Society, Matt is involved with the Downhillers Ski & Board Club and enjoys baseball, skiing, and being outdoors.

Sawyer Dixon

Sawyer has been part of Economics Society since his fall semester freshman year. As president, he hopes to help undergraduate members of the club connect with upperclassmen and help them learn more about economics and their fellow classmates. Besides Economics society, he is very active within the department, as a former Research Assistant to a professor, as a former Fed Challenge team member and lead and as the team lead for the Fiscal Challenge which recently won the 2022 National Championship. He also recently completed his second co-op with McKinsey and Company as an analyst on the Social, Healthcare, and Public Sector Entities team working primarily in the fields of Global Public Health, Economic Development, and Education.

Jhonatan Serrano

Jhonatan is a rising third year student at Northeastern University originally from Quito, Ecuador, which is 2,800 meters above sea level!
His favorite food is: Sushi, Italian, and Mexican!
His favorite candy is: Paccari Chocolate, Kinder and Milka!
His top 3 music artists are: Carlos Vives (Joyful singer from Colombia), Aitana, Maverick City Music.
His fun fact is: I am the fastest Ice Cream eater in the coast! : D If questions arises, challenge accepted!

Jan Berend

Jan is a fifth-year from Germany. He currently works as an IT Project Management Co-op at Bain Capital. In his free time, Jan enjoys hiking, exploring New England, and playing chess.

Firas Zarrouk

  • Director of Operations
  • Major: Chemical Engineering
  • Minor: Mathematics and Economics

Firas is a third-year Chemical Engineering major, with a minor in Mathematics and Economics. Firas has experience in the Geotechnical Engineering, Infrastructure Consulting, and Pharmaceutical industry. Previously, Firas worked as a Manufacturing Execution Systems Engineering Co-Op at ThermoFisher Scientific. Firas conducted economic research within the energy storage/production field as well as infrastructure investment. In Firas’ free time, he enjoys Soccer, Paddle ball, and listening to music.

Tanvi Gandhi

Tanvi is a senior who did her first co-op at LEK Consulting and is currently on co-op at Brown Brothers Harriman. She started her college career in London through Northeastern’s Nu.in program. She’s involved in multiple clubs on campus and loves traveling, watching movies, and coffee.

Jack Roberge

Jack DeVuono

Jack is a 4th year from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The clubs and organizations he’s been a part of at NEU are Econ Society (Symposium Co-Chair), CSSH Ambassadors, and the Peer Mentor program. He is currently on his second co-op at Blackstone Inc. in NYC doing SEC Reporting. His first co-op was at Plymouth Rock Assurance as a Subrogation Claims Technician. He was also a part of the NU.in program in Greece my freshman fall semester. Jack’s favorite class is Money & Banking and his interests include animals, books, and traveling.

Isabella Caldwell

Bella is a third year from South Florida. She currently is at her first co-op at Wayfair on the Sales Advertising and Merchandising Services team. She is passionate about mitigating climate change and promoting sustainability. She hopes to further explore the intersection between economics and environmental science in her career. She loves exploring and traveling, going to the beach, trying new foods, knitting, sunrises, and cats!!!

Jack Filmer

Jack is a third-year economics and data science student from South Africa. Currently, he is completing his first co-op at Altair Engineering Inc., working in sales engineering and enablement. As part of econ society, Jack hopes to show others how economists can leverage data science to their advantage and derive deeper insights from their studies. In his free time, Jack’s favourite hobbies include piano, skiing, cooking and sim-racing.
