Janaina Artem Ataide, PhD student, May 2022 – May 2023
Janaina is a Ph.D. student from University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil. She graduated from University of Campinas, with a B.S. in Pharmacy (2015) and M.Sc. in Sciences (2018). Her research focus on nanoparticles for delivery of synthetic and natural drugs. Janaina internship in CPBN is sponsored by FAPESP through Research Internship Abroad program (BEPE-DR).
Hassan Shah, PhD Student, March 2022 – August 2022
Hassan Shah got his Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) from the Gomal University, D.I.Khan, Pakistan. He earned his Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. He is now currently enrolled in Prof. Dr. Madni Nanomedicine Research Lab, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. His research work focuses on the stimuli-based vesicular drug delivery system (liposomes) for the chemotherapeutic agent. He is interested in the co-delivery of siRNA with other chemotherapeutic agents to overcome the problems associated with multidrug resistance.
Ahsan Ali, PhD student, April 2022 – September 2023
Ahsan got his PharmD and M.Phil (Pharmaceutics) from The University of Sargodha, Pakistan, and is currently enrolled in Ph.D. (Pharmaceutics) at Dr. Madni Nanomedicine Lab, Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. His current research is on solid lipid-based nanoparticulate systems to deliver chemotherapeutic agents to treat skin cancer.
Farzana Prtaveen, PhD student
She joined Dr.Torchilin’s lab as IRSIP Scholar in September 2020. She was a full time HEC Indigenous PhD scholar at Dr.Madni’s lab of nanomedicines, The Islamia University Bahawalpur, Punjab, Pakistan. Her research focuses on stimuli sensitive and lipids based drug delivery systems for cancer treatment. She holds a hospital pharmacist position at Primary and Secondary health care department of Punjab.
Sara A. Attia, PhD student
Sara earned B.S. degree in pharmacy from Alexandria Faculty of Pharmacy, Egypt. She graduated with Summa Cum Laude in July 2018. Her research focuses on pharmaceutical sciences and drug delivery system for siRNA and small molecular drugs using immunomicelles for MDR cancer.
Xiang Li, PhD
Xiang earned his Ph.D. from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, China (2011). He is an associate professor of Jiangxi University of Traditional Medicine. His research focuses on Neutrophil Extracellular Traps(NETs) as a target for the treatment of multiple diseases and polyamidoamine dendrimers-based nanomedicine for combination therapy with siRNA and chemotherapeutics to overcome multidrug resistance.

 

Kobra Rostamizadeh, PhD
Kobra  earned her doctorate in applied chemistry from Tabriz University (Iran, 2007). Now, she is a professor of pharmaceutical biomaterials department at Zanjan University of Medical Sciences (Iran). Her research interests focus on the crossroads of materials and medicine to develop advanced nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems to reach efficient chemotherapy.
Muhammad Muzamil Khan, PhD student
Muzamil got his PharmD from Punjab University Lahore, Pakistan and M.Phil (Pharmaceutics) from Bahaudin Zakariya University, Multan and he is currently enrolled in Ph.D. (Pharmaceutics) at Dr. Madni Nanomedicines Lab, Islamia University Bahawalpur, Pakistan. He is working now on Folate-targeted Lipid-polymer Hybrid Nanoparticles for the targeted and controlled delivery of cisplatin for effective treatment of ovarian cancer. He is interested in Co-delivery of siRNA and chemotherapeutic agents for the effective treatment of cancer and utilization of neutrophil extracellular traps as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool.
Md Abdus Subhan, PhD, Md Abdus Subhan received his PhD from Osaka University, Japan. He joined Torchilin Laboratory as Fulbright Visiting Scholar in September 2018. His current research includes co-delivery of small molecule drugs and siRNA using immunomicelle based delivery system for MDR cancer, anti-bacterial functions and chemical sensing of toxins by nanocomposite metal oxides. He holds a faculty position at Department of Chemistry, Shah Jalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh.

Xin Zhang, PhD student, 01/2017 – 01/2018
Xin is a Ph.D. Student from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, China. He graduated from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University with a B.S. in Pharmacy (Japanese, 2011) and M.Sc. in Pharmaceuticals (2014).  His research focuses on increasing oral bioavailability of protein, such as insulin, by overcoming the barriers in the peroral delivery process and application of nanosuspension method to dissolve dissolution problem of poorly water soluble drugs. He is now focusing on studying about delivery systems for siRNA and anti-cancer drug in overcoming multidrug resistance effect.
bilir_cpbn Cemil Bilir, M.D. 01/2017 – 01/2018
Cemil is a medical oncologist and working as a full time associate professor at Sakarya University School of Medicine in Turkey. He is practicing in cancer care and research interests are immuno-oncology, immune escape mechanisms and pancreatic cancer. He is studying about PD- L1, MHC-1 expression and IDO inhibition on several cancer types and comparing the effectiveness of free and liposomal based therapies.

Damla_1 Damla Ülker, MS 03/01/2017 – 08/31/2017
Damla is a chemist and she is currently in doctorate at the Eskisehir Osmangazi University. Her research was based on synthesis and characterization of novel microgels, nanometals, nanocomposites, novel block copolymer stabilizers for related polymerizations.  She have great experience on heterogenous polymerizations including both emulsion and dispersion polymerizations. She can make polymers via ATRP as well. Her thesis topic on “Synthesis, Characterization and Application Field of Novel Stimuli-Responsive Microgels (Development of Microgel-Liposome Biomaterials)”.

nina-filipczak_2 Nina Filipczak, Ph.D., 05/2016 – 12/2016
Nina graduated from University of Wrocław (Poland) with a B.S. and a M.Sc. in Biotechnology. Since 2011, she is a Ph.D. student at Lipid and Liposomes Department (University of Wrocław) and spent 6 months in Dr. Torchilin’s lab as part of her training. Her current research focuses on the use of liposomal nanomedicine for the effective treatment of melanoma cancer. She is also interested in other drug delivery systems immunooncology and cancer biology.

nino Nino Zavradashvili, PhD, 05/2015 – 01/2016 
Nino is a scientist at the Institute of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Agricultural University of Georgia. Research Interests: Synthesis and study of novel biodegradable and biocompatible polymers on the basis of naturally occurring and nontoxic building blocks (α-amino acids, α-hydroxy acids, fatty dicarboxylic acids and diols), for the applications in gene therapy and biotechnology as effective agents for intracellular delivery of nucleic acids (gene carriers), as well as antimicrobial agents for numerous applications.

Toni graduated from Universitat de Lleida (Spain) with a B.S. in Biotechnology and from Cranfield University (UK) with a M.Sc. in Molecular Medicine. Since 2012, he is a Ph.D. student at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (Barcelona, Spain) and spent 6 months in Dr. Torchilin’s lab as part of his training. Toni investigates new strategies to achieve pharmacological inhibition of Myc using nanoparticle-mediated delivery. His work is supported by Instituto de Salud Carlos III and the FERO Foundation.

Yadav is Scientist at CRIR – Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Lucknow, India. He is interesting in intradermal antimicrobial drug delivery system.
 Tianbin Ren Tianbin Ren, PhD, 11/2014-5/2015
Tianbin received his Ph.D in Material Science from Shanghai Jiaotong University in China. In 2003 he started the biomaterial research at the Institute of Polymer Research of GKSS research center in Germany. Since 2004, he is working at the Tongji University School of Material Science and Engineering where he was promoted to a Professor position in 2012. His main research interests include synthesis and application of amphiphilic, stimuli-responsive polymers include polypeptide, and self-assembled nanomaterials such as vesicles, and micelles for controlled drug delivery, gene delivery and therapeutic cancer vaccine etc.

Seungsoo is a medical doctor in pulmonology at South Korea.  He is interesting in respiratory infections and airway diseases.
 Mariana  Oliveira Mariana  Oliveira, visiting PhD student, 11/2014-7/2015
Mariana is Ph.D. Student from Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. She graduated from Federal University of Minas Gerais, with a B.S. in Pharmacy (2009) and M.Sc. in in Biopharmaceutical Innovation (2011). Her research focus on solid lipid nanoparticles for breast cancer treatment. Mariana is a recipient of the Science without Borders Scholarship, a Brazilian government program funded by CAPES.

Vana received her Ph.D in Science and Engineering of Materials from University of Sao Paulo (2013). Currently she is studying immunoliposomes for cancer treatment. Vana holds undergraduate degree in Chemistry from University of Sao Paulo.

 Takanori Kanazawa Takanori Kanazawa, PhD2014-2015
Taka received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics at the Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Sciences in 2010. He joined CPBN in 2014. His research is focused on the development of the tumor-environmental cleavable nanocarriers for siRNA and anti-cancer drug delivery to the cancer cells.
 Necibe Basaran Necibe Basaran Mutlu Agardan, PhD. 2014-2015
Basaran gratuated from Gazi University Faculty of Pharmacy, in 2005. She received her Ph. D. in Pharmaceutical Technology from the Institute of Health Sciences, Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey in 2013. She joined CPBN in April 2014, as a visitor scientist with a scholarship from TUBITAK-Turkey. Her area of research focuses on nanoparticulate drug delivery systems and stimuli-sensitive drug delivery systems for cancer treatment.
