Hi guys! My name is Amber. I am the student ambassador of MSIS program in Silicon Valley campus. I am glad to sharing with you my unforgettable trip to Grace Hopper Celebration in Houston, TX.
You might be interested about what is Grace Hopper Celebration? Grace Hopper Celebration is the world’s largest gathering of women in computing. The celebration, named after computer scientist Grace Hopper, is organized by the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology and the Association for Computing Machinery. There are several sections, one part is Career Fair, this time more than 300+ companies came, include Google, Facebook, Microsoft, etc. And there were key notes, and tech talks on various of topics like AI, IoT, and career development, etc.
First morning, we have a keynote which was held in Toyota Center (The arena is home to the Houston Rockets (!!!) of the National Basketball Association). I was more than excited to be there.
And I spent mostly of my afternoon in the career fair, talking with recruiters, networking with other talented engineers from industry or other universities, and getting to know more about companies and institutes. I was so happy to meet a Northeastern alumna from Data Dog, who mentioned how much her company likes students from Northeastern, as many graduate with over six months of Co-op experience.
This is the Instagram booth. You can’t image how many people wait in the line to take a photo with this fancy background!
And one important part you shouldn’t miss is the night party! It was on the last day night, I was tired at that time. Everyone was shake, shake and shake. It’s just the right time to enjoy the music, the move, the foods, and some alcohol (notice: you should be 21+ yrs old).
And I met another Northeastern alumna again 🙂
