Club Sailing Volunteers with Cradles to Crayons

The Northeastern Club Sailing team participated in over 10 great hours of community service together. They helped Cradles to Crayons in their mission to help the struggling families in the Greater Boston area and collected trash along the Charles River. They volunteered on January 14th, January 21st, February 4th, and February 11th for a total of 8.5 hours. They picked up trash along the Charles on February 25th for that final hour and a half totaling 10 hours. At Cradles to Crayons, they had the pleasure of working together as a team to sort clothes and then create care packages for young children. From jackets to packages of socks, they helped them organize and distribute clothes for kids in Boston.

“It was a lot of fun being able to work on the final product of a care package that would be sent to young children in need. With all that is going on in the world right now I am so glad we were able to do this essential work before the virus hit.” – Santiago Hirschmann, VP

“It also felt great to help clean up the shores of the Charles which has become our sailing home at Northeastern. Removing each piece of plastic brings the Charles one step closer to being the clean body of water that all of Boston can enjoy.” – Santiago Hirschmann, VP

“The Boston community has been such a great place for our team to develop into the best sailing team and people we can be, so it felt great to be able to give back to the great community we live in.” – Santiago Hirschmann, VP
