Capstone Mentoring Program

This program was developed in 2011 to provide business mentors for each senior capstone design group. The purpose is to support the design team in developing more coherent and real world business plans and strategies upon which to base their project. Some mentors are equipped and willing to voluntarily expand their role into the technical areas… that is at the discretion of the mentor. The role can also expand into a role of general “coach” to a student or a team… again this at the discretion of the individual mentors. Read more…

Chemical Engineering Events Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to inform the NU Department of Chemical Engineering of upcoming Engineering events in his/her area and, if possible, be a NU ChE representative at said events. Events can include things such as conferences, seminars, social events, etc. pertaining to the engineering field. Developing Industrial Funding for Chemical Engineering Department Research

Much of the research currently conducted in the chemical engineering department is government funded. This research is primarily in the areas of Advanced Materials, Biochemical Engineering, Clean Fuels and Computational Chemical Engineering. This initiative will help the researchers develop alternative sources of funding to replace the anticipated decrease in government sources of funding. Read more…

Student Organization Support

In 2015 the Industrial Advisory Board approached OXE (chemical engineering honor society) and the student chapter of AIChE (American Institute of Chemical Engineers) student leadership and offered to support their activities if they believed we could add value. Activities to date have been providing alumni once a semester for an evening mixer/panel discussion hosted by both organizations to respond to student’s questions about life after undergraduate studies. Read more…
