Research Interests:

 • Development of prosody in first language acquisition
 • Interaction between prosody and information structure
 • Prosody-acoustics interface

Background:

Originally from New Hampshire, Jill received a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Spanish as well as a Master of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Rochester. Following her Master's degree, she was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to Spain to work on the acquisition of intonation in Spanish and Catalan acquiring children. She completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Cognitive Science at Brown University. Her research focuses on the perception and production of prosody at different stages in development. The goal of her work is to provide a better understanding of how the complex interaction between prosody and meaning develops over infancy and early childhood.
