Introduction and Colloquium Scope

Following the spirit of the past seven meetings held in Japan, Australia, United States, Germany, Canada, Italy and China, the 8th BBAA Colloquium will be a broad forum on the latest advances in the study of separated flow around bluff bodies.

The general and scientific organization of  the 8th BBAA Colloquium is coordinated in agreement with IAWE, International Association for Wind Engineering (http://www.iawe.org/). Contributions to the Colloquium will focus on:

Fundamentals and Applications

  • Experimental, computational and analytical studies of vortex shedding, wakes
  • Fluid-structure interaction
  • Aerodynamics of bridges, cables, buildings, trains and vehicles
  • Sports aerodynamics

Emerging Research Topics

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • Environmental and nonstationary flows (tornadoes, hurricanes)
  • Performance-based wind engineering
  • Wind Energy
  • Energy harvesting, induced by wind and flow-induced vibration
  • Wind loads on renewable energy systems
