Sunday, 5 April – Boston, MA to Winchester, VA

On the first day of AIAA’s trip, with much driving ahead of us, our thirteen member team departed Boston for Winchester, VA. In order to fit all the rocketry, robotic, and structural components of the project in three vans shared with camping gear, suitcases, and the team itself, the Autonomous Ground Support Equipment (AGSE) had to be entirely disassembled.

Twelve hours later, we reached our lodging for the night, Candy Hill Campground. After dinner and s’mores around the fire, the real work begun. The soldering guns and telescope came out in attempts to assemble and test small parts of the AGSE, and take quick star-gazing breaks.
