Monday, 6 April – Winchester, VA to Great Smoky Mountains National Park

To the chagrin of the team, another long day was planned. This time, we would end up in the much revered Great Smoky Mountains. There’s never a dull moment in AIAA, and for a harrowing hour we drove up unprotected, cliff hugging dirt roads, occasionally stopping for a picture.

After finally reaching the campsite, it was time to unload again and set up shop.

This time, we not only had to build in the dark, but it began to rain, sending everyone in a dash to shield our electronics from the weather. So, obviously, the rest of the night was spent cozy, in a tent with electronics and power tools.
