Transcripts for each debate were obtained from debate broadcasters (e.g., CNN, FOX, NBC).
The interactions graph summarizes how the candidates refer to each other throughout the debate. Edge thickness represents the number of times a candidate was directly mentioned by a different candidate. The graph can also be used to show how speakers interact with topics, such as healthcare or gun control.
DebateVis was created by an interdisciplinary team of researchers at Northeastern University, including Laura South, Micha Schwab, Nick Beauchamp, Lu Wang, John Wihbey, and Michelle Borkin. This work was funded by a Tier 1 grant from Northeastern University.
